Hypnosis for Weight Loss
I’ve been reading lately a lot of articles about weight loss through hypnosis. It sounds fascinating and highly improbable that a person would shed pounds after a few hypnosis sessions. And how about all those you tube videos? But is there any truth to this claim?
Experiments tend to suggest it is an effective weight reduction tool. Research conducted on a large group of overweight people showed an extra average weight reduction of 16.4 pounds when compared to the group that was just dieting. This after only 8 weeks! What’s more, the hypnosis group continued to lose weigh steadily for two years after ceasing the sessions. While these finding might turn anyone into a believer, I don’t trust any information any more.
How does it work?
It changes your attitude towards things. And apparently it does have it has its benefits. During the hypnosis sessions, suggestions are planted into your subconscious telling you that you enjoy exercising, that you love healthy foods, that you enjoying getting up early in the morning to start cooking and maybe squeeze in a run.
Isn’t this what we’re doing all along anyway?
I’m sure I’m not the only one who does this: I always encourage myself by saying I can do anything. When it gets hard I remind myself I enjoy it. When I crave junk food I remind myself of all the reasons I should make a healthy choice instead. Granted, I’m fully conscious when I do this, but I’m sure part of this stick to my subconscious too.
So why pay 200$ an hour (or whatever the rates are) to have a stranger tell what you like and like while your half asleep? I know what I like, I certainly know what I want and I have the determination to get it.
Have you ever used hypnosis for weight loss? If not, would you consider trying it?
