Nature’s Intricate Design

I love the human body! We live in an unstable world, a world of ethical battles in which only aesthetic principles have a consistency on which we can rely. Right and wrong we will always fight over, struggling to find and maintain a moral balance, but the beauty of nature’s art is beyond dispute. I believe the human body is a piece of art, the most beautiful and precious art we have.

Sculpture

Sculpture

You might compare the human body with a sculpture. One might argue that the ancient Greeks created sculptures of human anatomy that touch perfection, monuments to shape that can withstand the test of time, while a living body is firmly set on a path towards disintegration. But it’s exactly this fragility that gives it its preciousness! Every fleeting moment is another frame in its beautiful existence. The ever-changing flesh you live in is unique in space and time. You’ll never be as young as now, you’ll never be quite the same, you’re motion, vibration, pulsation, you’re growth, you’re evolution.

The beauty of your body, of your living sculpture doesn’t lie in its resemblance to the common image of perfection. It lies in the life within, in the blood pumping through your veins, in the millions of processes occurring inside you every moment, in the electricity of your atoms’ vibrations. And all the complexity of your organism is confided within this gorgeous case, beneath your skin, in every shape of your body. Every curve and every dent that casts a shadow on your skin is a mark left by nature’s chisel, the chisel that has shaped you into its own vision of perfection.

How many people today truly inhabit their bodies? If you try to love your body, it will start liking you back. If you start listening to it, you’ll know what it needs, what it wants. If you give it what it needs and wants, you’ll make it stronger, better, healthier, livelier. You start to feel it. It will not just listen to your commands; it will want the same things as you do.  Your mind’s wish will become your body’s wish and the effort of working towards its attainment will not be pain, but ambition. And when you’ll start working together towards your common goals, you’ll be able to shape it after you desire, it will mold itself into the form you want. When you’re truly one with your body, it will stop being the encasement of your soul. It will be its home!
