Naked Without Makeup

This one is for the ladies!

Do you feel confident enough to go out into the world without makeup? Or do you feel naked? Now I’m not saying feeling naked is a bad! Depends how you look at it, if you know what I mean… But I’m referring to feeling uncomfortable. Feeling as if you turned up for work in your pajamas. Are you ready to pitch that important business proposal in your pink polka dot nightgown? I thought so…

The Power of Makeup

Makeup is amazing. You spend 10 minutes in front of the mirror and you walk out of the room a different person. Suddenly, all you dislike about your appearance is cleverly concealed. Goodbye freckles and birthmarks, hello silky porcelain skin. And how could you live without those seductive black lashes? Not to mention the depth of your gaze accentuated by rich, bold colors. If not for makeup, how could you ever show off those red, soft lips and a delicate touch of sun on your cheeks? (while outside is snowing by the way!)

Yes! Makeup has the power to change your appearance and enables you to step out into the world an almost faultless creature. But wait! It does much more than that! Not only does it refine your look, but it completely chances your attitude. It gives you the confidence to peer into that stranger’s eyes and hides your playful blush. It reassures you at every step that you are prepared to face the world, to look people in the face, without them ever seeing your little flaws, those that you meticulously conceal! Not only can you hide from them what you want, but you point out what you want them to see. Your best features discreetly emphasized. You let them see you the way you want to be seen.

And when you thought the power of makeup have reached their full potential, guess what! There’s more! Make-up is also a very personal way of expressing yourself. Every day you make a conscious choice of how you want to look, of how you want to appear in the eyes of others. The look you choose is yours and yours alone, and like any piece of art it’s subject to the silent criticism of the world. Day after day, you paint your art on the living canvas that is your body, encircling your eyes with colors that hide a part of your personality.

Beautiful, isn’t it? So much behind a simple morning ritual…

Makeup Addiction

When makeup is such a powerful tool, you’d be a fool not to use it to your advantage. Why not look better, if you can? The choice is yours and yours alone. You’re the one who decides how much is appropriate for what events. You choose how often you put on makeup. But eventually, it’s you who finds she can’t go out in public without it!

Makeup is more addictive that you imagine. Once you get the taste of feeling beautiful, you never want to let it go. At least a little eye liner on the days you’re feeling lazy! And it’s no wander you feel this way. On every magazine page, on every channel, every commercial or billboard, you see flawless women hidden behind their shields of makeup. And it’s not only women, but I’m not going to get into that!

How fascinating is it to see movie stars without makeup? Sometimes they don’t even resemble the faces you recognize on screen. And you feel cheated somehow… Fooled to believe in the beauty of a face that is no more attractive than your own. You unconsciously blame those popular faces for having misled you. How can such an ordinary appearance make you self-conscious whenever she shows off her cleverly highlighted features?

Well if they manage to fool the entire world, why shouldn’t you? But at the same time, aren’t you cheating those who come to know you behind a mask, just as the movie starts have deceived you? Now this is a tough one! Not only is the problem impossible to solve, but it doesn’t even bare the same importance from one moment to the next. Today you might care. Tomorrow, not so much… But there is a more important question, and a rather selfish one! How does makeup addiction benefit you?

Imagine! You’re by the poolside with your friends. They jump in the water, but you avoid going in. You’re scared you’ll ruin your make-up and they’ll get to see you smudged with running eye liner.

Or maybe this situation: You’re on vacation with your friends and you are sharing the same cabin. First thing in the morning you run to the bathroom to prepare yourself. You don’t want them to wake up before you look perfect!

Situation 3: You spent the night with the guy you’ve been seeing lately. Can you bear to wake up next him and be 100% transparent in from of him?

If you can see yourself in any of these situations, then sweetie, you have a problem! Don’t worry though. Most of us have been there! But there’s something wrong when revealing your true look becomes a matter of trust. You can let someone see you without clothes but not without makeup? Now that’s not right…
When wearing makeup becomes an addition, then you have to start treating it. Otherwise, like with any drug, you’ll feel miserable without it!
