How to Improve Your State of Mind

What’s wrong with your life? Don’t say there’s nothing wrong! If you started reading this, there most certainly is something bothering you, even if you can’t quite grasp it. If you can’t say that you’re perfectly happy with your existence or that you are completely fulfilled, then there’s still room for improvement. Let’s figure out what your weak spots are and let’s work on getting you 100% happy with your reality!

Who knows… I might make you happy!

What are the steps to happiness?

This is your starting point!

This is your starting point!

Step 1: Understanding Your Feelings.

Are you happy? If you can’t utter a “Yes” without having to think about it, chances are you’re not. If this question confuses you, most certainly, you’re not. Maybe you have all the reasons in the world to be satisfied with your life, and you just feel ungrateful to say that you’re not. You might be in a kick ass relationship, have a steady income and yet feel somewhat uneasy about your life. Just lacking a sense of accomplishment is enough to make you uncomfortable with your otherwise perfect existence.

I moved a couple of months ago to Vienna for college. I’m studying at a great international school, I live in a gorgeous flat on a peaceful island in the middle of the most beautiful city to live in. I’m happily in love with someone who, unfortunately lives 500 kilometers away. However, that’s not a problem, coz we still get to spend a third of a month together and have an amazing, heavenly, great time! I have everything I even wanted but still… I can’t seem to find my place. I don’t really feel like going out or doing anything I used to enjoy. I sleep way too much and have too many nightmares. I don’t get enough work done and I generally feel lost.

So even if there’s no logical reason to be unsatisfied with your existence, it’s not an uncommon thing to have second thoughts about the direction your life is heading. Why does this happen, you might ask? Well, most of us don’t give full credit to our values. Maybe you go about your day, doing your work and you never stop to realize how important self gratification really is to you. Or maybe social interaction is what makes you tick. Perhaps it’s knowing that you help others. Whatever it is, it’s often the case you overlook these seemingly irrelevant details. Then, you just wonder about knowing that something is missing, without being able to express it.

How do you identify these bad feelings? They tend to manifest themselves in all sorts of ways. They may come in the form of stress. There’s nothing pressuring in your life, but you still can’t seem to relax. How about an inability to enjoy life? If you lose all your excitement there’s definitely something wrong. Or perhaps you are experiencing a weird longing, confusion, a need for something indefinable. Your dissatisfaction with your life might reflect in your work. Are you still as efficient as always? How is your sleep? Are you cold, empty, purposeless?

If you are experiencing any of these, tighten you seat belt and get ready to move on!

Some things in life change, some are ment to be soulbound, slowly burning an endless flame in one’s heart. Try as you might to put out the flame, with 5 steps, 10 steps, a million steps – the result will be the same. Live the present by viewing your future, and learning from your past, things many people forget to do, and end up living in the future witouth having a present, only a burned-down vision of the past.

Very nicely said, but you shouldn’t just give up and be sad forever. Happiness is your choice. It is sometimes very hard, but you have to learn to accept what ever happened, and live with it without being affected by it. Changing how you feel is one of the most hardest things. But living your entire life with a cloud over your head is even harder!
