7 Tips for Actually Committing to a Diet
Get off your fat ass and get to work! Now! (sorry! I don’t mean to sound offensive or harsh… I just thought you could use a bit of aggressive encouragement)
Now seriously! If you’re going to successfully carry out that diet you have to commit yourself to it! There are no excused, no postponement, no nothing!
Believe me, you just have to do it! And now! Otherwise, in a week from now you’ll still be planning our your great diet. Trust me, I’ve been there…
So take charge!
1. Your diet starts now!
Yes! Now! Not on Monday, not tomorrow. Not even later today! Postponing stops now! From this moment forward, you are on a diet! Doesn’t that feel great?
2.Draw your finish line!
How much weight do you want to lose? How long will you be on your diet? Do you also want to be more toned? Do you want to lose fat and increase muscle mass? Figure out the answer to all these questions. It’s important to know what goal you want to reach. Otherwise, you’ll work towards something you can’t quite picture and you’ll never feel like you achieved anything, because “achievement” has not been defined.
3. Set the rules!
Once you have your destination in mind, you need to decide how you’ll get Figure out the details of your diet! If you don’t have clear rules, you’ll never know if there. What diet will you follow? How much will you eat each day? How many meals? What will those meals consist off? How much exercise do you want to do? you’re on the right track or not.
4. Prepare the battle field!
Yes, I’m talking about the kitchen. I know there’s a lot of food there that doesn’t work well with your diet. But your diet starts now! So you’ll just have to give it away if you can. Or throw it away! I know you don’t feel right about throwing food away. I don’t either. But you have to do this! Go through the fridge. Put everything that won’t expire soon somewhere in the back and don’t touch it until you’ve achieved your goal. Select what food is agreeable with your diet and be heartless and throw away the rest! Sweets, popcorn, chips…. All go on the top shelves where you won’t touch them!
If you don’t live alone you might not be able to do this. Then you should just pick a corner of the fridge where your diet food is to be placed. That’s your sacred corner that is to be respected by your room mates!
5. No excuses! No exceptions!
I know there are times when you are tired, or hungry, or craving something. But don’t be weak! You might tell yourself that you’ll cheat just this once or make just one exception. But why should today be the day you make an exception? Once you start breaking the rules your entire diet starts rolling downhill.
Try this exercise!
At the beginning of our diet you decide the period of time you’ll be sticking to it. Let’s assume it’s 10 days. Convince yourself that every time you break a rule you have to start the count all over again. McDonald’s binge on day 9? Back to the beginning!!!
Be strict but understand that there are extreme situations. Let’s say you’ve been at work all day and you get home late at night exhausted. In this case it’s a good idea to skip that 5 miles run.(jogging in those stretchy pants in the park in the middle of the night falls under the foolish category!) And you can forgive yourself for this!
6. Will of steel!
Motivation is your deadliest weapon in this fight! Don’t let it fall in the hands of the enemy. He will use it against you! You have come a long way and there’s more to go… You can do it! You are the only one who can give you the body you want. If you can’t do it, no one will!
Giving up is not an option! It’s yourself you give up on if you fail!
7. Share your effort!
Leave a comment with your goal weight and time you allocate to get to it. Then check back when the period is over and tell me how you did. Or I’ll email you and ask you myself! How’s that for motivation?
